Towards a new linguistic citizenship: action research for the recognition and equal participation of speakers in the educational field of the Community of Madrid
The project “Towards a new linguistic citizenship: action research for the recognition and equal participation of speakers in the educational field of the Community of Madrid” (reference PID2019-105676RB-C41) seeks to explore linguistic diversity and multilingualism in the Madrid university context, especially at the Autonomous and Complutense University of Madrid.
With this, the project aims to:
- Better understand what role language plays in creating or justifying social inequalities or exclusion.
- Contribute to greater sociolinguistic justice, proposing transformative actions that promote the equality of languages and the recognition and equal participation of all speakers, regardless of their language, variety or accent.
- Generate tools for reflection and pedagogical transformation to support and enhance this sociolinguistic justice in the university community.
- Produce an open access research report and language-sensitive teaching recommendations for policy makers, teacher educators, and pedagogical consultants to drive change beyond the university community.
