Professor hired as a doctor in the Department of Evolutionary Psychology and Education of the Faculty of Teacher Training of the Autonomous University of Madrid. She obtained a doctorate in 2003 from the University of Comillas and was a research fellow in the line of study «inequalities in education» of the previous Educational Research and Documentation Center of the Ministry of Education. In 2004 she began working as an associate professor in the Faculty of Teacher Training of the Autonomous University and, for six years, she combined this work with teaching and educational guidance work in different public centers of the Community of Madrid.
Her research interest is linked to educational inclusion. This subject of study requires the planning, implementation and evaluation of innovation and improvement processes that promote physical, curricular and organizational changes in schools and, therefore, is linked to the transformation of cultures, policies and practices educational in educational centers. This motivation led her to make two postdoctoral stays in the United Kingdom (at the University of Canterbury and at the University of Manchester) to train more in collaborative research projects and build research networks that have subsequently allowed her to participate in two competitive international projects “Teaching diverse learners in school subjects” (Comenius multilateral Network 541969-LLP-1-2013-1-DE-COMENIUS-CNW) and “Responding to diversity by engaging with students’ voices: a strategy for teacher development» (European Commission 518637-LLP-1-2011-1-UK-COMENIUS-CMP) in which she currently participates.
Since 2004 she has participated in different competitive projects of national and regional research calls. She has also directed two competitive studies, one entitled “Models of centers and teaching experiences in the processes of support for students at risk of educational exclusion.” (2011-2013) funded by the Ministry of Education and in 2015 “Universal Instruction Design in the University Teaching ”financed by the UAM and the Santander bank in which the University of Northern Arizona (USA) collaborates.
One of her greatest recognitions is based on the one hand, in being author and coordinator of the teacher training course “Inclusive Education. Equals in Diversity ”in national and Latin American editions for more than four years. This course was promoted by the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training of the Ministry of Education. In relation to this area, the teacher teaches a MOOC course that will begin its third edition in 2017.
On the other hand, the European Agency for the development of educational inclusion appointed her as an expert on the subject of evaluation indicators of inclusive centers in 2007. Since this year she has collaborated making reports of several projects, the most recent is “Rasing Achievement for all«(517771-LLP-1-2011-1-DK-COMENIUS-CAM).
