Ideas and experiences exchange regarding different mechanisms of citizen participation and their role and effectiveness in democracy

This morning, members of the UNESCO Chair on Education for Social Justice met with Janina Welp, Co-Director of the Latin American Zentrum ZUrich (LZZ), University of Zurich, together with the IMEDES and DEMOSPAZ University Institutes in order to exchange perceptions about the implementation of several mechanisms of citizen participation in different democracies around the world. The sharing of lessons learned in IMEDES’ Intercultural Intervention Project (ICI in Spanish), and the recent report “Sign to influence policy? Models and experiences of local citizens’ initiative” with Janina Welp amongst its authors, have led to new interesting perceptions.
